The founding partners built the firm on the principles of integrity, fairness and excellence. MTO has argued pivotal recent cases reinforcing constitutional checks and civil liberties, including matters that stopped the government from blocking congressionally approved funds for an independent nonprofit; successfully challenged an executive order threatening the legal profession’s independence; and opposed unconstitutional immigration enforcement practices. Working alongside the ACLU, the firm exposed abuses in Orange County’s jailhouse informant program and has helped enforce compliance with Public Records Act requests made to hundreds of California law enforcement agencies. Today, MTO’s more than 200 attorneys continue its founders’ legacy, upholding integrity and democratic accountability from offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington, D.C.

Founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, World Central Kitchen (WCK) is a nonprofit organization that is first to the frontlines providing fresh meals in response to crises. Applying its model of quick action, leveraging local resources, and adapting in real time, WCK has served more than 500 million nourishing meals around the world. The organization’s work after Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico set a new global standard for disaster relief, proving that food is hope, dignity, and connection. In 2025, following the wildfires across Los Angeles County, WCK teams mobilized immediately, serving more than 1.6 million meals to displaced residents and first responders from Malibu to Pasadena. Partnering with local chefs, restaurants, and volunteers, WCK turned parking lots and community kitchens into food hubs. Guided by Andrés’ belief that “a plate of food can change the world,” WCK continues to feed hope and rebuild resilience everywhere it serves.
